Splice Enclosures
A splice enclosure describes the housing in which fibers are connected. Open the Splice Enclosure setup dialog by clicking on File > OpenComms Settings > OSP – Common > Enclosures to display the following setup dialog:
Editing a Splice Enclosure Model
- Select a splice enclosure from the Splice List. Highlighting the splice enclosure loads the information into the dialog box.
- Edit the Splice Enclosure Attributes input fields.
- Click Update to save changes into the spec file.
Creating a Splice Enclosure Model
- Key in the splice enclosure model name.
- Select Type as Fiber.
- Key in the Manufacturer name and Cost.
- Enter the maximum number of splice trays the enclosure model can hold.
- Enter the number of fiber entry ports the splice enclosure model supports and supply a number of sheaths that each port is capable of supporting.
- To activate the Cell Library window, type in the cell Name and press enter or click on Select and select the appropriate cell from the Select Cell dialog box list.
- Select the ‘Power’ button to
implement the Splice Model as a ‘Coax’ Powering Device and enter Current and
Voltage levels to be used when calculating power from the Coax Module.
After selecting 'Power', the following dialog will display:
- If the splice enclosure being built is a NAP (network access point) for use in a FTTx design architecture, check the NAP box in the Splice Enclosure Attributes dialog.
- Click Add to save the splice enclosure into the spec file.
